SUMMARY: Under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, provides health care services and school based community health referrals at and from a school site.

Administers first aid and health treatments under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Administers medicines according to Arizona Law and as directed by District policy under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Maintains student health and immunization records, supplies, and equipment.
Participates as a member of the school’s intervention team.
Coordinates annual screenings for vision and hearing per State of Arizona requirements.
Maintains logs and appointment schedules.
Performs additional related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

Knowledge of:

First Aid and child health issues and treatments.
Basic administrative support skills including record keeping.
Health care equipment and supplies.
Health care records and reports.

Ability to:

Recognize the seriousness of health care needs of children and provide first aid under the direction of the RN.
Operate a computer and related software.
Maintain effective relationships with others, communicate effectively verbally and written.
Maintain records and reports.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the requisite knowledge and abilities.

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Current certification in the State of Arizona as a Certified Nurse Assistant or School Health Assistant required.
